Top Five Reasons to Book Your Arkansas Photo Session this Spring

Right now is the perfect time of year for a photography session in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Believe me, there are more reasons than just blooms and babies! Here are the top 5 reasons you should contact your photographer, pronto!

1. The Weather

The most obvious reason is the weather… Spring-time is as good as it gets. It’s not too hot. It’s not too cold. And the occasional rainy day, can be worked around. Winters in Arkansas can actually get pretty chilly, but the hot summer nights take the cake (and by taking the cake, I mean they are yucky/sweaty)! Spring is where it’s at!

2. Daylight Hours

Another big bonus? The daylight hours of spring are perfect! As you can probably tell by peeking around my work, I love backlight and sunsets. I tend to do most of my outdoor sessions just before the sun goes down. In the winter, this is early (like kids-aren’t-out-of-school-yet, early). And in the summer, sunset is pretty late. People get hungry and kids get sleepy when our summer sessions don’t start until 7:30 pm. Right now, sunset times are what Goldilocks and I like to call “just right”.

3. Slower Season

In the fall, everyone and their grandma wants to have their family portraits taken. It never fails, folks put off their annual family photo and then it’s crunch-time for Christmas Cards. Don’t be a procrastinator (I’m talking to myself, here) and get that portrait taken this spring! Added bonus = you can gift your mom with beautiful prints for Mother’s Day (we all know those are Mom’s favorite gifts) AND you won’t have to pay rush shipping next fall for your Christmas Cards. Not only will your favorite photographers have more availability in the spring, but there are fewer tourists to work around if you choose a public place for your session.

4. Spring Foliage

I, personally, love the muted, natural tones of the foliage of early spring (before everything has started to bloom). Tall, dried grasses are my favorite, and are easy to find this time of year. And later in the spring, you get all the fresh greens. Yes, the color change in the fall is pretty, but it is fun to switch up the background of your portraits. It’s time to change those orange and yellow leaves for something a little more fresh.

5. Babies & Blooms

This list isn’t complete without babies and blooms. Spring-time brings more opportunities for newborn fur or feather-babies to join your session. Dogwoods and Cherry Blossoms are also abundant this time of year, and who wouldn’t love the chance to have those in your portraits?

Spring really is the perfect time for your photography session. Contact Heather Graham Photography and let’s set-up your portrait session, today!
